Axis VFX are looking to hire Houdini TDs (preferably UK based) who will play a key role in researching Houdini workflows as well as implementing and supporting their successful use in our productions. The position can be remote or onsite.
Responsibilities
work closely with the Pipeline team and CG leads and Supes to help define the Houdini workflow for FX, Lighting and other disciplines and creating scripts and tools
help troubleshoot technical issues across projects, providing solutions to problems that will improve the production and project efficiency and will work closely with the Technology team (Pipeline & Systems) to ensure an efficient workflow
providing maintenance and support to the internal 3D team
working directly with artists to investigate and address urgent issues related to custom pipeline tools
Essential skills/Experience
have a strong technical background as well as a strong understanding of production processes and artist workflows within film and television visual effects and how they fit into the CG pipeline. The role will require strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex information into practical and efficient solutions.
ideally have some experience in the latest technology, USD, Solaris, PDG, or be prepared to learn, research and utilise it as required
2+ years experience of experience in the VFX industry
strong understanding of 3d geometric attributes and principles
excellent knowledge of Python, Houdini, Shotgrid and Nuke
Some experience of other VFX software platforms, such as Maya, Deadline and Unreal would be helpful.
previous experience in Linux shell scripting
proficiency working with one or more renderers (e.g. Renderman, Mantra, Arnold, etc.), and experience with renderer specific file formats
