Axis Studios seeks a dedicated REALTIME LIGHTING ARTIST to join our Realtime Department and work alongside the Lighting department, who helps create all Lighting content for in-engine projects.

As part of the Realtime Lighting team, you will help bring to life in-engine scenes, co-operating with other Realtime Artists on the team. Your role will be to help the team, building lighting in-engine, and working with the team receiving feedback to push the quality of the in-engine scenes.

This role can be carried out remotely, with working hours overlapping GMT. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to creatively and technically create lighting for realistic and stylized in-engine projects 

  • Be the person who pushes the quality of the in-engine Lighting with support from Senior Artists and Leads

  • Work in partnership with other departments to ensure that shots are delivered to the highest possible standard

  • Work within the Lighting team to determine the various design solutions needed to create the effects

  • Create both the exterior and interior lighting within environments and cut scenes

  • Support the junior members of the team

  • Execute high quality lighting, within game budgets

  • Keep CG Supervisor/Lead and Head' of Realtime informed of progress, changes and other critical issues

  • Take on feedback from Lead's and clients to push the quality of Lighting

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong working knowledge of lighting and shading in Unreal Engine

  • Intermediate knowledge of 3D software, preferably Houdini but also Maya, 3DS Max or Cinema 4D

  • Good communicator

  • Strong artistic eye

  • Experience with optimisation and lighting budgets

  • Good Blueprint knowledge

  • 1-2+ years experience working with Realtime Lighting either in a game studio or cinematic studio
