Axis Studios seeks a dedicated RIGGING TD to join our Realtime team. As a Rigging TD you will be working with a small flexible team to help develop and explore a whole new game IP. You will be getting involved at the very start and helping bring this new world to life.
Working closely with the Supervisor, Creative Lead, Modelling and Animation you will be problem solving some great characters dynamically with the team to help deliver next gen quality characters rigs.
As part of the Realtime team you will be working closely with all of our team, helping diagnose issues in Unreal, Maya or our Pipeline. Being a key part of the technical and creative development of the project and final delivery of our in-game content.

Axis who previously worked on Annie and VES Award Nominated Gears 5 seamless in-game cinematics. Work alongside the Research and Development department and our CG team of Layout, Animators, Supervisor, Lighting and FX to deliver high end in-game seamless cinematics.

Creating and maintaining high quality skeletal rigs for a variety of humanoids, creatures, vehicles and props to meet technical and artistic specifications provided by all departments.
Creating tools with Python and MEL scripts to generate rigs in a procedural manner.
Working with senior/lead artists to solve technical problems and develop and integrate tools into a robust pipeline.
Working closely with production to maintain project schedules
Working closely with your team to identify process improvements/tools to increase department productivity
Implementing maya character rigs in engine.
Experience with Unreal or Unity
Good knowledge of anatomy and a thorough understanding of biomechanics, kinesiology for humanoid and animals.
Good understanding of facial rigging and FACS
Thorough understanding of weighting, skinning and must be able to work interactively with modelers to resolve challenges.
Good communication skill and ability to work interactively with the rest of the team.
Ability to rig characters/objects in a realistic or cartoon manner.
Good MEL scripting, Python scripting skills.
Experience with Marvelous Designer, cloth, muscles and dynamics are a plus.
Maya API, C++ skills are a plus.
Strong production experience on game cinematics, VFX and realistic characters is preferable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Experience with UE4 - including Animation blueprints, materials and shading
A desire to develop and evolve characters
Demonstrated ability for creative solutions to technical challenges within tight deadlines
